Chapter 6
Admitting the Past
Diane pondered about what to wear all morning. He dresses normal for his job, and I don’t want to become a spotlight, or over dress. She settled on a pink lacy top. Her white jeans would go well with it, and her white heels would top the outfit off. More comfortable and more casual, that was the key.

On arrival to Hope, she almost pulled into the parking garage, but wheeled around and headed towards the shop. “Why not!” she proclaimed! She pulled into the “customer only” parking spot and entered the store at precisely twelve o’clock. “Well, hello!” Joe announced, “I was afraid that you would forget about our lunch date!” “No, I didn’t forget at all, I was actually looking forward to it. So much I took the day off.” “You Did?” Joe asked, “If you don’t have to go back to work, do you want to do something a bit different?” “Like what,” she questioned. “Well, you could help me finish up and I can fix come computers, then I could close early. “That way we could go to have a nice dinner together.” “I even have a package of cookies to munch on instead of lunch.” “I think I would love that,” she answered. What do I do? Joe instructed her to stand behind the counter and when a customer came in, take the phone or laptop, make a ticket with their name address and phone number, and tear off the ticket and give it to them for a receipt. “Be sure to remind them, cash only, as he pointed to the big sign above their heads.” Sounds great, my first day on the job” she joked.
She stood there looking over the store and through the glass wall at the city. “This is nice,” she thought, “helping people, instead of trying to give them a big fine. Giving them smiles instead of frowns.”
It lasted only a moment. He door opened and a mother with 2 young boys came into the store. This tablet has been broken for quite a while; Ive been waiting to be able to get it fixed. It just quit turning on. And now my phone has quit as the boys were fighting over it and it landed in the toilet. Can you help me? “Well, I’ll see”, Diane answered, “Fill out this ticket with your name and number, okay? I’ll take the phone into the back and see if joe has time for it.” “Oh, thank you” the woman said.
